2013 Backcountry Earth Day Celebration at Santa Ysabel General Store

Come out to the backcountry on April 21 from 11am-4pm to celebrate Earth Day by planting lilacs, taking a hike through the grasslands, learning about the California wolf, and enjoying the 1st Annual Santa Ysabel Earth Day with free children's activities, live music, and more! There are a variety of ways to be involved in this year's Earth Day Celebration.

Volcan Trail Rehab

Join County of San Diego Parks and Recreation rangers and help rehab the Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve trail.  Inclement weather will cancel the event.  Please call the Ranger's office at 760-765-4098 for more information.

Julian Daffodil Show: March 23-24

March 23-24: Daffodil Show – Julian Town Hall 2129 Main Street – Bring all daffodils for display & judging Friday March 22, noon to 4 p.m. names and questions about daffodils answered by National Daffodil Society experts.

Although not native to Volcan Mountain, the annual Julian Daffodil Show, started 9 years ago, by VMF supporter and docent, Sally Snipes, unofficially marks the kick-off of spring and the flower season for the Julian backcountry and Volcan Mountain.  Come support Sally's passion and celebrate spring!

Sunday, August 4th, 2013-Coast to Crest Challenge Series; Volcan Mountain Hike

Coast to Crest Challenge Series presented by friends and partners of the Volcan Mountain Foundation at the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy--a fun way to challenge your physical strength and endurance while exercising in open space with fellow enthusiasts. This new series will consist of both hikes and bike rides. The Challenge Series is led by David O’Connor, San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy Conservation Manager.
