The community is invited to honor the Fall 2012 Kids With Cameras students at a reception and photo exhibition kick-off at the Julian Library on Thursday, November 29th at 6pm. Please come celebrate and support these budding photographers and the acclaimed collaborative program between the Volcan Mountain Foundation and Julian Elementary School Character Garden. Spend time with San Dieguito River Park rangers and San Dieguito River Park Conservancy staff for several hands on activities to better understand and appreciate the local environment. This program is designed for children 6-12. For more information contact San Dieguito River Park at 858-674-2275.

May 17-19 brings the 2nd Annual Julian Wild & Scenic Film Festival-Films To Change Your World, with countless inspiring titles, to the Julian High School for the benefit of the Volcan Mountain Foundation and it's work to protect and preserve Volcan Mountain in it's natural state for all generations.
Calling all artists! Come capture Volcan Mountain in all its autumn glory. The Volcan Mountain Foundation’s ‘Art on the Mountain’ events series continues on Saturday, October 20th, 2012 with a morning painting and afternoon photography adventure and potluck lunch in between. Join the Volcan Mountain Foundation and the San Diego Tracking Team from 8am-3pm on the San Felipe (east) side of Volcan Mountain to learn how to identify local wildlife through tracks and scat. This class prepares you to participate in surveys that monitor the wildlife in major open space preserves and other critical areas. Topics include basic recognition and identification of animal tracks and other signs, introduction to track patterns and gaits, wildlife journaling, an overview of the survey protocol, and more!
Naturalist, wildflower expert, and state parks specialist, Larry Hendrickson will guide you through the spring wonders of Volcan Mountain with a behind-the-scenes tour and make a wildflower expert out of you. As part of this outing you will enjoy a catered lunch courtesy of Carol Pike. Date: Saturday, April 28th, 9am. Cost is $60 per person.
