Volcan Mountain Wilderness Summit Hike; Saturday, March 14th, 2015
On Saturday, March 14th, join County Park staff for an early spring hike to the scenic summit of the county's Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve (VMWP). Take in the panoramic views while hiking the Five Oaks Trail. Enjoy a bird’s eye view of Julian, where on a clear day you can see the buildings in downtown San Diego and islands off the coast of Mexico and Southern California. Bird watching at Lake Cuyamaca with Sharyl Massey, Saturday, March 7th at 7:30am
Saturday, March 7th join, Volcan Mountain Foundation board member and naturalist, Sharyl Massey for an early morning bird walk at Lake Cuyamaca. You’ll learn the basics of bird identification and ecology, then head off for a leisurely walk along the lake where you will develop the skills to identify a variety of bird species in addition to getting a close up look at their behavior. Later you can use these skills when exploring the preserves and reserves of the Volcan Mountain range.
